Surf) and I was surprised to see this kind of advertising, So I picked my self a small website or affiliate site and added it to as many surf sites as possible and I would spend hours with as many windows open as possible jumping from site to site trying to surf as many as possible in return for my site to be seen and receive hits (with out much success), then I seen this other site something about these safelists, So I jumped on board the safelist craze, I luckily found some of the better safelists and signed up to about 5 and I was bombarded by offers”make a million” “email 700 000 000 members spam free” “blast 2000 000 blogs”  “your ad’ seen by millions”  after reading all these great emails I jumped on board a few and purchased a few websites, “I was going to be a millionaire in NO TIME, after all that was “Promised”, so I started using all these great blasters and safelists (surfing was over now).I am/was a couple hundred dollars down now and had nothing to show, apart from 100s of ebooks, a few blasters and some websites, so I purchased some scripts and set up multiple websites, BUT still no traffic from all these blasters and apparent “millions of emails sent”.So I stooped and thought what a crock and then came the “email blasters” I subscribed to 5-6 different email blasters (each one bragged a total 0f 2000 plus safelists and millions of combined members) I was spending hours upon hours signing up to safelists and confirming addresses, finding larger email boxes, This time I was set to make money (apparent Millions as promised) after all I was sending apparently close to a BILLION emails and blogs a day, BUT still no response. So here I am today a little wiser and subscription free, promoting my new website based on all free products, sites, software, hosting, domain names, websites, add ons, scripts and of course a lot of free advertising, trying to see what I can do for free and only using freebies gathered from the net.Of course traffic is building up and I may have to invest in an upgrade to handle the traffic, so I may have to dip into my pockets after all. Conclusion:Safelist Blasters:End up getting spammed daily or more by Safelist Host. Most email ends up in trash by auto cleaners.Assorted “million email blasters”Go to no-one and waste of cash.Who are those millions of recipients?Blog Blaster.Claimed to reach 2 million blogs, but only reaches 500 max’ per blast.Most/all blogs require registration and confirmation anyway.Classified Blaster.Required the same as above.Most/all Classifieds require registration.Written by Jason Godwell.Did you find this article helpful? visit http://www.effiliatecity.info/

November 14, 2009 · Posted in Blog Free · Comment

Blogs are completely free to set up. They are hosted on free web space and usually come with a free domain name. This is the reason why there are so many blogs on the internet. They have become so popular nowadays because of their erase of setup besides being affordable to everyone.

To start making money online, you will need to create a blog. I would recommend using blogger.com to make your first blog. You can also use other blogging softwares such as b2evolution. An example of a blog made with b2evo can be found at brooger.com Introduce interesting and good content to your blog. You will make good money if you come up with an interesting, entertaining and unique blog that will outstand from other blogs.

There are various options that you can employ to make money online once you have gained good traffic to your website or blog. There are some content based advertisements that you can introduce into your blog to start making money. You can join one of these money making programs like Google ad sense, Kontera, Bidvertiser, adbrite or Adengage. These programs work by implementing their advertising code on your blog so that advertisements that relates to the content of your blog can be shown. When a visitor to your blog clicks on one of these advertisements you will earn some money. So the greater the traffic to your website the more you will earn.

Another money making way is to join affiliate program. Once you join these affiliate programs you will be give a referral link such that if a visitor joins the program through your link you will earn a commission. You can monetize your blog by adding some of the affiliate links

Once you get good traffic to your website, you may get ranked high by Google. Google assigns page ranks to website and they range from 0 (poor ranking) to 10 (high ranking). Having a good page rank may result in other website buying text links from you and thus you will end up making money from these text links you sell.

Advantages of a blog

November 13, 2009 · Posted in Blog Free · Comment

Almost everything that has advantages have disadvantages but when the advantages of a particular thing out weighs the disadvantages then it becomes insignificant, this is why I will not be discussing the disadvantages of a blog, because honestly I feel there is none. Well, except that the regular fresh content a blog requires can always make you feel on edge.

The advantages of a blog cannot be over-emphasized. The biggest advantage I see is that blogs give people, everyone alike, rich or poor an equal chance to be on the online world and write freely about their opinions, feelings and thoughts on different topics and subjects and actually have people worldwideread them!

Considering myself as an example. I love expressing myself, and writing gives me the opportunity to do that effectively. I have always wanted a medium where I could put my written contents and have a lot of people read it, so I wrote some articles on MLM and had it published in a local newspaper (Financial Standard Newspaper) in Nigeria. But you will agree with me that, that is limited. With a website I could address the world. But since I do not have a website design skill, it met I had to pay for the service and that presently could cost me N25, 000 or more ($170 or more) Wow! That’s some money. You could imagine how I felt when I realized I could achieve my dream using a blog without spending a dime!

Blogs are easy and inexpensive to set-up

To set up a blog can take as little as 10 minutes and it involves just three simple steps (choose your blogging software, register your account and start blogging). After creating your blog, all you are required to do is to provide as many fresh contents as you can on a regularly basis . You don’t have to spend a dime creating your blog because there are free versions available, but for a profitable blog, it is advised you use hosted Wordpress. A tutorial will be given in the nearest future on this blog on how to create hosted Wordpress blog. Hosted wordpress blog is server based and requires you get a domain name ($10 max.) and hosting service (could get for less than $10). You could get Alvin Phang’s book, Atomic Blogging 3.0 at http://tinyurl.com/n2pnvp it contains all you need to know about setting up a professional and profitable hosted Wordpress blog.

Blogs are Search Engine Friendly

This advantage of a blog is one of reasons I love blogs. Your posts and pages are automatically linked byblogs and that enables search engines spiders to find, crawl and index the blog. With relevant keywords in your blog Title, Meta tags, and the URL pages you could have your pages ranking higher in search engines. Meaning that when anyone type in your keywords into search engines, your page could be among the first few displayed list and that my friend, could relate to lots of free traffic to your blog!

Blogs attract more traffic for it fresh contents

Readers are attracted to blogs because of it fresh regular contents and if as a blogger you are passionateabout what you write about, and committed to providing fresh regular contents on it, thousands who are also passionate about that topic will on a regular basis visit your blog and if you keep updating it regularly with new contents, you will keep them coming.

Blogs creates room for online community

The in –built comment feed on blogs, enable readers to share their opinions about your pages and also startdiscussions on different topics.

When you have commentators who provide good information, suggestions and advice, you could create unique relevant content from it and most importantly keep your traffic as they will keep coming to get updates on different topics.

Blogs have built-in RSS Feed

RSS which means Really Simple Syndication syndicate recent posts and deliver them to various blog searchengines and when your readers subscribe to your RSS Feed it automatically delivers your recent posts to their inbox.

Some advantages of a blog from an organizational perspective are as follows:

Blogs enable companies to keep their customers informed on a regular basis. They could post news about new products, policies and opportunities available and have it in front of their customers in a matter of minutes instead of having to send newsletter weekly or monthly.

That helps organizations to develop stronger relationships with their customers and build trust since they caneasily interact with them and get feedbacks.

Companies could drive traffic from their blog to their websites. Blogging also showcase the organization as professionals in what they do and they could build brand loyalty.

There are definitely other advantages of a blog, but these are the main ones I came up with. Now should you build a website or create a blog? To help you make the decision visit my blog again and read my next post, Static website vs. Blog. I will discuss more specifically the advantages of a blog over Static website.

Website vs. Blog

November 12, 2009 · Posted in Blog Free · Comment

It became necessary for me to compare a Website to a blog because many people get confused sometimes whether to go for website or create a blog. Now read the comparisons below, hopefully it will help you in your decision making. But in truth, both have their advantages and if you could, go for both.

 Blogs are cheap to create

For the reason that all fingers are not equal, the first advantage of a blog compared to a website is that it is cheap to create. With $20 (max.) you could have a hosted Wordpress blog while it is a different matter entirely with a website. And if you can not afford $20 for a domain and hosting service you could of course start with a free hosting service though it is not the best, but you could start with it and not spend a dime. You can get a good free hosting service from blogger, owned by google. Using blogger you could even have your blog tied to Google adsense account. That way you get your hosting service for free and also make money. Cool right? I thought so too.

Blogs are cheap to maintain

Since creating a blog doesn’t in all cases require you having a skill, virtually anyone can start and run a blog, but a website you have to have HTML and web design skill.

The simplicity of creating a blog has resulted in the more than 28million blogs available online today (in just 5 years) and the number increases everyday, as thousands of people who never could have afford a website are now settling for blogs.

Blogs are easy to update

To make a post on a blog all you do is go to the back office of your blog, write your content and click on publish and in minutes your post will be visible to everyone online who visits your blog to read. In the case of a static website, to upload an article you first have to open your editor, which is either a Frontpage or a Dreamweaver, write your article, update page properties, before you could upload the page using FTP software. Depending on the techniques you applied, it could take months before your website is indexed by google.

Blogs allow a written text, audio and video. And you can have it online in a matter of minutes where it takes hours to update a static website. You may have to spend some money every time you want to make an update if you do not have the skill to manage a static website.

Blogs organizes itself

Blogs automatically organizes its content by date and category. And with a blog built in search, readers and search engine spiders can easily run a search on your blog and find what they are looking for. For a static website you have to personally organize its pages.

Blogs could be Ping

Blogs could be ‘pinged’ so google is alerted whenever you post fresh content and visit your blog to index it. Though this is also available in static website but you will spend more time than is necessary to should it be a blog on Search Engine Optimization (SEO), to have the website show up in search results.

Search Engines Love Blogs

Search Engines love blogs because of it regular fresh content, since that is what readers search for online and search engines would not make millions if readers do not get fresh regular contents to read. And so blogs tend to get indexed easily and in time than a static website.

Search engines also push blogs higher up in search displays than static website just for it fresh content. Static website though could contain some articles but they are mainly designed to promote products and services .And might not be updated for months. And most website designers are mostly concerned about the appearance of their website rather than the content in them and maximizing Search Engine Optimization to get traffic.

Blogs allow readers to freely express themselves through Comment Feed

The Comment Feed in blogs creates a forum for people to express themselves in an informal way and interact with others hence building strong relationship and trust between you and your readers. And that is the essence of blogging because once they trust you, you become real to them as a professional in your field. So later in future when you suggest or offer them any relevant product (s) for sale, you will have large numbers patronizing you. Which at the end of the day is the reason why we blog or at least why most of us blog – Advertise and make money. A static website does not allow this, when and if it does, discussions are usually very formal.

But to get readers to comment, you have to regularly provide what they could comment on which is valuable content.

Blogging requires time since you will have to update your blog regularly with relevant content, but compared to maintaining a static website, you will find blogging a better option.

Blogging has come to stay, it has been around for 5 years now and with the way the online world presently works, a blog is too beneficial to be kicked to the curb.

With the above clear comparisons, I would advice that it is good to have a website and a blog, if you don’t already have a website, but you are planning to design one, design it and incorporate your blog to it. But when you have to make a choice between a website and a blog, I’ll suggest you start with a blog as you could build credibility faster with it than with a website. Though what should actually determine which to go for, is what you plan to do online.

Do not consider a blog if you can not provide contents for it. If you want a blog but can not keep up with writing blog posts, you can freelance it to freelancers. In that case you should be ready to spend some money.

Steps a Baby Boomer Must Know about Blogging

November 10, 2009 · Posted in Blog Free · Comment

So you are a Senior citizen, a Baby boomer!  What are you doing with your time now?  You Need to Blog.  Blogs can be in demand and very fruitful tool if applied correctly. Waht you doing with your time and knowledge now?  Benefitting from blogs is just a matter of grabbing the attention of an audience and not doing any actual marketing of a product or service, you let them find you.  Here are the 14 most necessary steps for Seniors Citizens need to know about blogging. 1) Where do you start?  When in doubt so a Google SearchYou should begin your blogging mission with a free blog hosting service such as Google Blogger.  It’s a free blog host and can be fulfilling for a young blogger.  Starting with a free blog hosting service allows you to begin blogging at once without having any advance knowledge of internet protocals or code to slow you down. You don’t have to program a thing.  If you took high school typing, you can blog.  A blog will allow you to build an audience of readers and can create a buzz for your blog.  A free blog hosting site allows you to concentrate on your message and not the internal upkeep of the blog on your own website. The most beneficial benefit of beginning with a free blog service, is in the case your blog doesn’t become successful you do not lose any money or are you left holding the bill. The great thing about a blog is that they are organized in chronological order, your latest entry is displayed first. When your blog traffic grows greatly and you are ready to upgrade to your own domain then you can simply make your last blog entry the announcement of your “move”.  Simply add a last entry stating that your blog has “moved” and type the new blog URL address. We will cover that issue when you really want to get serious as a blogger How and where do you direct visitors to your new blog site, how to keep your following, without a major inconvenience to anyone. Upgrade as you need to…but only when you need to!  For Now type in Google.com/accounts and click on Blogger.  2) Niche or What are you going to blog about? A niche is a targeted product, service, or topic. You should first choose on a product, service, or topic which interest you. Choose an area which you can enthusiastically write about on a daily basis. You can use keyword research services like Google or Yahoo! Buzz Index to find popular searched topics. It does NOT matter if your topic is popular, as long as there is a audience for your topic.   and the topic is precisely focused then your blog should be successful. Anything can be considered a niche as long as it has a target audience no matter how large or how small the audience is. A blog about your cat can be a niche or a blog about the species of the cat family can be a larger niche market, if there are people who are interested in hearing about your cat or the species of the cat family, then you have a niche…you can even choose to build your audience for a market which an audience does not exist, but first you must build your blog. 3) Update Daily (nothing less)

This step is a must and not a suggestion. Updating your blog daily not only keeps your blog more interesting to readers, but it also gives your blog fresh content on a day to day making it more appealing to search engines. Not updating your blog on an occasional holiday or one day here and there is understandable to most, but missing days at a time or weeks is unacceptable and will most likely result in your blog being unsuccessful. To keep your blog traffic and retain your visitors interest it is a must to update your blog daily with multiple entries. Though, I am seeing a growing trend of successful blogs that are not being updated daily, but they are successful and have a stable audience who continue to visit their blog daily.  Regardless, these blogs are still updated weekly with multiple entries.  Until you have a steady audience you should try to update your blog everyday with at least 3 or more daily entries. The best way to accomplish this is to set aside 1-2 hours a day for tending to your blog and adding new entries. It may even be wise to schedule a set time which you dedicate to your blog each day. Give yourself work hours and treat your blog as a job, what happens if you don’t come to work for days or weeks…you lose money or worse you get fired! Same applies here…if you don’t update your blog for days or weeks you’ll lose visitors. It’s no secret. You must have traffic to profit from blogs, and remember, the goal is to increase your senior years casg flow. There are numerous ways to build traffic. Paid advertising, free advertising, viral marketing, search engine marketing, RSS/XML feeds, and word-of-mouth. You should always use your blog URL address in the signature of your email, forum discussions, message boards, or any other communication media. You should submit your blog URL address to search engines and blog directories. You should submit your RSS/XML URL feed to blog ping services like Technorati, Ping-O-Matic, and Blogdigger. You should confidently share your blog with family, friends, co-workers, associates, and business professionals when it relates. Many blogs can be considered as a collection of articles, for this purpose you should submit your blog entries (those that are valuable and lengthy articles) to content syndicators like GoArticles.com or ZapContent.com.

Once submitted your articles can be picked up and published by others. The trick is to make sure you include your Blog URL address in the “About the Author” passage. What this does is create link popularity and backlinks for your blog, when someone picks up your article from the syndication then publish the article on their website the “About the Author” passage is included with each publication and the link you included is followed, crawled, and indexed by search engines. Imagine if your article is popular enough or controversial enough to produce 10,000 publications across the web. The search engines is bound to find your blog in no time with that many publications and credit you a authority on the topic, in return increasing your rank on search engines. The small effort of writing a well written article is rewarding. You should try to write at least 1 full length article every week for syndication and submit your article to at least 10 article syndicators. 5) Track Your Blog How do you know if your blog has traffic? Just because no one is leaving comments doesn’t mean your blog isn’t growing. Many visitors do not leave comments but they are returning visitors. I know it sounds crazy but with blogs people are more interested in what “you” have to say! Many visitors do not comment their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time. Some do not comment at all, but are active daily visitors. So add your address to your signature on your email, post to other people’s blogs, online forums, in your attempt to recieve return traffic.  Tracking your blog does not have to be overly sophisticated usually a simple free page counter like StatCounter.com or Active Meter will do the trick. Install (copy/paste) the code into the html of your blog template and start tracking your visitors. Its better to use a service which gives you advanced traffic analysis, such as keyword tracking information, referral information, and search engine information. Visitors, returning visitors, and unique visitors should be standard for any page counter service you choose. 6) Listen to Your Audience – respond to what they say. When using the proper page counter you should begin to see how others are finding your blog and if through search engines then which keywords are being used to find your blog. If constantly your blog is being found by 1 or more keywords then focus your blog around those keywords to make it even more powerful. When writing entry titles and entries use the keywords as often as possible while keeping the blog legible and interesting. 7) Multiple blogs – that means you can have “more than” one blogUse multiple blogging accounts (free) to attract more people. This means you should have a blog with JournalHome.com and others. The more blog accounts the better (be sure to read and adhere to the Terms of Service for each site). You can copy/paste from 1 blog to all others. Having different blog accounts is like having a publication in different newspapers. This enables you to attract more visitors and this also increases the chance that 1 of your blogs will be in the search engine results for your focused keywords. 8) Short & Concise – or you will loose your audienceAside from the lengthy article a week for syndication and publication your blog entries should be short & concise (if you can help it). Sometimes there are exceptions to the rule and you have no choice but to blog lengthy entries, but try to avoid this as much as possible. You do not want your blog entries to become hours of reading. Visitors like to easily find information and skim through your entries. It is good to be detailed and provide useful information, but do not include useless information or run away sentences that veer away from your topic.  Stay keyword-focused.9) Digital Art – it’s easy not to blend in videos, pictures, audio, etc.Try to include non-advertising graphics, pictures, photos, and art in your blog entries. Not too much. Once a week is fine. Graphics can sometimes bring your blog to life. Of course, the content of the blog is the most important aspect and you do not want to overshadow your content with graphics, but displaying graphics can add a bit of spice to the blog. Be choosy about your graphics and make sure they fit your entry topic. You should add content with the graphic, at least a caption. Original graphics, photos, pictures, and art is recommended. 10) Keep it Personal – We live in a Reality worldA blog is most successful when it is kept personal. Try to include personal experiences which relates to the topic of your blog entry. Stay away from the business style of writing. Write with a more personal style and use first-person narratives. Do not write any of your entries as sales letters, instead share product reviews and personal endeavors. 11) Interact With Your Visitors You now have the traffic you deserve. You should begin interacting with your visitors. Create a regular theme such as: “Monday Money Tip” or “Picture of the Week” which entices your readers to look forward to each week. Give your readers advance notice about a product, service, or topic which you are going to review and then talk about later. If the President was scheduled to give a speech then in your blog you should state that you “will discuss the speech and give your opinion after the speech airs. Comments will be appreciated”. Try your best to find exclusive information that not many have. Do not disclose any confidential or secret information which is deemed illegal or can potentially get you into trouble, but try to get the scoop before everyone else does. Such as: If your blog was about Paris Hilton (the socialite) and you had a blog entry about “Paris Hilton Getting Married” then it would be interesting to your readers if you had a actual picture of Paris Hilton engagement ring. Give your best effort to dig and search the internet for exclusive information and you will possibly come up with something useful. Your readers will appreciate this and they show their admiration through word-of-mouth referrals. Imagine how many readers will tell their friends, family, and others about information they only can find at your blog. 12) Make Money – the idea is to add additional cash-flow.Once your blog has gained some real momentum and your blog traffic is increasing then it is time for you to start thinking about turning your traffic into profit. You should use contextual advertising, like Google Adsense or Chitika. Contextual advertising is usually text links which use the content of your blog to publish targeted ads on your blog. The payout is usually based on a pay-per-click model, meaning for ever click an ad receives you are paid a small percentage of the profits. In addition to contextual advertising it is good to also use graphical advertising such as: BlogAds.com, Amazon.com, MammaMedia, or General Sponsored Advertising.13) You’re a Professional – you will know when you are! You’re a professional now! What are you still doing with that free blog hosting service? It is time to upgrade to a domain hosted solution. You’ll need to get a web host and choose a domain name (Godaddy.com) for your blog then check its your chosen Blog Name availability. Select the blogging software you wish to use, such as: WordPress.org, MovableType.org, TypePad, etc. When you have your new blog domain setup and ready for traffic then it is time for you to announce your move on all your previous blog accounts. Your last entry to the blog should be a “move” announcement. The title should be “Moved” and the blog entry should state something like “I have a new home for my blog, please bookmark and follow the link: http://www.YourNewBlogDomainName.com”. This way all returning visitors and new readers should not have any problem finding your new blog domain.  Plus, search engines can easily index and crawl your new blog, since your old blog should already be popular with the search engines. At the level of a professional blogger you may want to team up with 1 or more other bloggers, these can be your close friends that have encouraged you all along.  This could create a more interesting and more powerful blog. The old saying “two heads is better than one”, more authors could mean additional advertising and exposure because each author will have a vested interest in the blog. The idea of a “team blogging” is to make your profitable and rewarding for all authors, while continuing to target the blog topic and keeping the blog interesting for your readers and visitors. !4) It’s the most important one.  Get Started Now!Adopting these blogging formulas should make your blogging experience much more rewarding and satisfying. There is no guarantee that your blog will ever become popular or a household name, but the effort should at least put you one step closer to adding some . Making income online is not an overnight experience like many may think, but making money online is definitely a foreseeable possibility. As well, acquiring popularity on the web is not an overnight experience, but through time, commitment, and perseverance you will be rewarded with all the complete satisfaction of blogging.Brought to you by To Easy Video

Writing and Publishing Your First Blog Entry

October 29, 2009 · Posted in Blog Free · Comment

The content of your blog is an important factor in gaining traffic and acquiring a target audience.  Publishing your first Article or item is a great milestone in your blogging career. Fortunately, there are several basic guidelines, which can make your content more effective to your audience, adored by the search engines and respected by the world of blogging.

Publishing an Effective Content

First of all, keep in mind that communication is the key. More so, your communication must be authentic. The time when you publish your content is also the time when you let your true self surface. Blogs are personal in nature and communication is the key to being personal. The fact that each blog is unique because each writer is unique is enough for you to not to worry about future similarities with other blog entries. Keep in mind that whatever topic you are
blogging about you must incorporate your personality with your writing.

In order to create a loyal target audience, it is important for the visitors to trust you and relate to you. It does not necessarily entail that they know about your personal details but you must connect with your audience in an authentic manner.

After establishing your communication with your audience, the content must also be credible. The blog must have authenticity even though credibility takes a lot of time to build.

The moment you begin publishing your content, which is of high value and useful to the readers, you also start establishing your authority. There will come a time when your readers ask you for advice or seek for your opinion; this is the time when you have achieved some kind of credibility and you must use this to build your reputation as a blogger.

The Blogger’s Block

Blogging is writing but uses a different medium. There are several methods to fight blogger’s block. Always remember that your blog software exists to serve you and not to frighten you. You do not have to try blogging carrying the idea that you have prolific writing skills, or a journalism degree. The fact is that you have something to say and you want others to hear it. However, if you are feeling stuck on an idea, there are several suggestions that you can apply when creating the content for your blog.

Firstly, you can try visiting other blogs. Visit those blogs that interest you and pick ideas and topics from those blogs that might be worth blogging about but keep in mind the relevance of the topic and your readership. You can also syndicate your news updates. You can do this by subscribing to news services online because they allow you to save time on searching using keywords. This is most useful for bloggers.

How To Know If You Should Start A Blog

October 27, 2009 · Posted in Blog Free · Comment

It is believed by most experts that blogging is a financial mistake for most small businesses. Blogs are best used for news-oriented sites, or sites that feature “the latest” or “the thought of the day.”However, blogging can also be a strong “add-on” to a successful, profitable website. For this reason, we will examine how to look at blogging vs having a website and how to know if you should start a blog.Several companies offer blogging software, and Blogger is probably the most widely used free blogging platform available. Blogger, owned by Google, allows you to set up a blog quickly using its design templates. Other widely used blogging software include WordPress and TypePad.Blogs must be updated frequently — several times a week, if not daily or even several times a day — in order to hold readers’ attention. Bloggers must scrupulously adhere to the golden rule of blogging: “Thou must update frequently.” It is a time-consuming process because people who read blogs expect a certain amount of fresh content on a regular basis — at a minimum, weekly — preferably several times a week. This is not true of a theme-based website.Blogging should definitely be used in combination with other marketing methods and not in isolation. They should NOT be used to build career momentum because they are not right for everyone — especially if you don’t have a strong viewpoint or valuable information to share. Blog posts, in contrast to conventional websites, do not have a specific order. The software lacks what businesses do need to actually make money (which is the ultimate goal). They interlink to each other with gusto, creating what they call “the blogosphere. Ultimately, they merely keep adding new posts, one after another, without editing out the old and without pulling related posts together into cohesive and fresh articles whereas, theme-based content sites develop and update the content into more complete, useful, cohesive articles called “web pages.” Bloggers rave about how blogs are “more dynamic” and “promote conversations,” but many prominent bloggers turn commenting off! This communication medium is heavily covered by both online and offline media because they “get” the concept. Bloggers, of course, form part of the online media and is actually for a very small percent of the population. It has become very popular in the last few years and even the most non-technical of netpreneur are now using a blog to promote their businesses. Blogs have come a long way in a very short time, but again, they’re not for everyone. A lot of people don’t want to read their own company blogs. It has to fit into the corporate culture. Blogs about your company and your products may sound interesting to you, but people rarely tune into a “commercial” blog unless there is additional information of real value. Blogging may not be suitable for all small businesses, say blogging experts in a New York Times report. However, they do provide a simple way for family and friends to stay connected from different parts of the world by sharing stories, photos, videos and more.

13 Steps to Successful Blogging

October 23, 2009 · Posted in Blog Free · Comment

Blogs can be a very marketable and very profitable tool if used correctly. Profiting from blogs is just a matter of grabbing the attention of an audience and not doing any actual salesmen selling. In this article you will learn the 13 most essential steps to successful blogging.

1) Where to start?

You should begin your blog with a free blog hosting service such as Journal Home. I don’t say that because I’m the owner, but a free blog host is very rewarding for a new blog.  Starting with a free blog hosting service allows you to begin blogging instantly without having any advance knowledge of scripts, hosting, or programming. It allows you to build an audience and buzz for your blog.  It allows you to focus on your content and not the internal maintenance of the blog. The best benefit of starting with a free service, is in the case your blog doesn’t become successful you do not lose any money or are you left holding the bill. Which directs visitors to your new blog site, keeping your following, without a major inconvenience to anyone. Upgrade as you need to…but only when you need to!

2) Niche

A niche is a targeted product, service, or topic. You should first decide on a product, service, or topic which interest you. Choose an area which you can enthusiastically write about on a daily basis. You can use keyword research services like Google Zeitgeist or Yahoo! Buzz Index to find popular searched topics. It does NOT matter if your topic is popular as long as there is a audience for your topic and the topic is precisely focused then your blog should be successful.

4) Traffic

It’s no secret. You must have traffic to profit from blogs. Many blogs can be considered as a collection of articles, for this purpose you should submit your blog entries (those that are valuable and lengthy articles) to content syndicators like GoArticles.com or ArticleCity.com.

5) Track Your Blog

How do you know if your blog has traffic? Just because no one is leaving comments doesn’t mean your blog isn’t growing. Many visitors do not leave comments but they are returning visitors. I know it sounds crazy but with blogs people are more interested in what “you” have to say! Many visitors do not comment their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time. Some do not comment at all, but are active daily visitors.

6) Listen to Your Audience

When using the proper page counter you should begin to see how others are finding your blog and if through search engines then which keywords are being used to find your blog. If constantly your blog is being found by 1 or more keywords then focus your blog around those keywords to make it even more powerful. When writing entry titles and entries use the keywords as often as possible while keeping the blog legible and interesting.

7) Multiple blogs

Use multiple blogging accounts (free) to attract more people.

8) Short & Concise

Aside from the lengthy article a week for syndication and publication your blog entries should be short & concise (if you can help it). Stay keyword-focused.

9) Digital Art

Try to include non-advertising graphics, pictures, photos, and art in your blog entries.

10) Keep it Personal

A blog is most successful when it is kept personal. Try to include personal experiences which relates to the topic of your blog entry. Stay away from the business style of writing. Write with a more personal style and use first-person narratives. Do not write any of your entries as sales letters, instead share product reviews and personal endeavors.

11) Interact With Your Visitors

You now have the traffic you deserve.

Your readers will appreciate this and they show their appreciation through word-of-mouth referrals. Imagine how many readers will tell their friends, family, and others about information they only can find at your blog.

12) Make Money

Once your blog has gained some real momentum and your blog traffic is increasing then it is time to start thinking about turning your traffic into profit. In addition to contextual advertising it is good to also use graphical advertising such as: BlogAds.com, Amazon.com, MammaMedia, or General Sponsored Advertising.

13) You’re a Professional

You’re a professional now! What are you still doing with that free blog hosting service? It is time to upgrade to a domain hosted solution. You need to get a web host and choose a domain name for your blog then check its availability. Select the blogging software you wish to use, such as: Squarespace.com, WordPress.org, MovableType.org, TypePad, etc. When you have your new blog domain setup and ready for traffic then it is time for you to announce your move on all your previous blog accounts. Your last entry to the blog should be a “move” announcement. The title should be “Moved” and the blog entry should state something like “I have a new home for my blog, please bookmark and follow the link: http://www.yournewblogdomainname.com/”. This way all returning visitors and new readers should not have any problem finding your new blog domain.  Plus, search engines can easily index and crawl your new blog, since your old blog should already be popular with the search engines.

At the level of a professional blogger you may want to team up with 1 or more other bloggers. This will create a more interesting and more powerful blog. The old saying “two heads is better than one”, more authors mean more advertising and exposure because each author will have a vested interest in the blog. The idea of a team blog is to make it profitable and rewarding for all authors, while continuing to target the blog topic and keeping the blog interesting for visitors.

Following these blogging techniques should make your blogging experience much more rewarding. There is no guarantee that your blog will become popular or a household name, but the effort should at least put you one step closer. Making money online is not an overnight experience like many may think, but making money online is definitely a foreseeable possibility. As well, growing popularity on the web is not an overnight experience, but through time, dedication, and persistence you will be rewarded with all the royalties of blogging.
